HDPE
HDPE is an opaque white waxy material. Its specific gravity is 0.941 ~ 0.960, which is soft and strong, but slightly harder than LDPE. It is a product of low-pressure, high-density polymerization.
The unique characteristic of different grades of HDPE is the right combination of four main variables: density, molecular weight, molecular weight distribution and additive. The advan
The advantages of HDPE
· HDPE has excellent resistance to most industrial chemicals. It can resist the corrosion and dissolution of strong oxidants, acid-base salts and organic solvents.
· HDPE is not hygroscopic and has good moisture vapor barrier, which can be used for moisture and anti-filtration or packaging.
· HDPE has good electrical characteristics, especially high insulation dielectric strength, which makes it suitable for wire and cable. Medium to high molecular weight grades have excellent impact resistance at room temperature and even at temperatures as low as -40°C.
· HDPE has good workability and heat sealing.
· HDPE is non-toxic and odorless. It can also be used in packaging materials such as food, clothing and knitwear.
The disadvantage of HDPE
· Its aging resistance and environmental cracking properties are not as good as LDPE, especially its characteristics will be reduced due to thermal oxidation. Therefore, HDPE is added with antioxidant and UV absorber to improve its scarcity in plastic sheet making.
· Low transparency of HDPE, poor barrier to oxygen and other gases.
